The PTSenR™ PTSPS069 Cable Plug Wireless Temperature Sensor is designed to monitor the cable contact
of medium voltage equipment. As the technical level of the power grid improves, an increasing amount of
medium-voltage equipment, especially in plateau areas, is being connected by cables. This includes a
greater use of inflatable Switchgear.
With the growing use of medium-voltage equipment such as ring main units, cable branch boxes, and
inflatable Switchgear, the power supply sector faces more cable faults. Over 80% of these faults are due to
heat issues caused by cable insulation and poor contact. Partial discharge from insulation damage and poor
contact of the wire core results in heating at the fault point. Monitoring this heating can help identify
potential failures.
